“If ignorance is bliss, why aren’t more people happy?”
– Thomas Jefferson
Our third president’s witty remark speaks to a truth important for the sale professional: knowledge can lead to happiness. How so? When we put our knowledge about effective salesmanship into action, we take a step closer to achieving success, and success is one way in which we find happiness.
By success, however, I mean more than attaining wealth. I also mean having developed and mastered the skills necessary to do the honorable job that sales professionals do: helping people decide what products and services are best for them.
Happiness comes from the success of an important job done well.
