There’s an old saying: Do what you love. I agree with this sage advice, but success takes more than doing what you love doing. It’s necessary, but not sufficient.
In addition to doing what you love, you have to seek excellence in what you love. If you enjoy playing football, you still have to practice and build your skills, no matter how “naturally” talented you are. If you love painting, you still have to study the tools of the trade and the techniques of the masters.
Doing what you love is great, but being great at what you love takes hard work, focus, dedication, and constant practice. If you really love what you do, then you’ll also love seeking to be excellent at it.
